Welcome to my crime prevention web site. My name is Riki Hiratsuka.I am a criminal justice major at the University of Alabama. I would like to tell how to prevent crimes. Currently, I am an intern with the Tuscaloosa Police Department. I have seen many people who became victimized by crimes. Whenever I see victims, I feel sorry to them. I would like to develop this crime prevention web site because I do not want people to be victims. Moreover, I want university students to have wonderful, safe and enjoyable college life.

I took this picture from a helicopter of the Tuscaloosa Police Department. The University campus looks safe from this picture. However, in reality, crimes can occur anytime and anywhere. I develop this web site because it is spring break in here. Usually during spring break and summer season, many houses, business complexes, and cars are burglarized because many people leave this town. Also, I learned from a criminal justice course that crime rate is related with the temperature. The highest rate of crime occurs under 80(F) degree.

I hope my web site helps you reduce and prevent crimes. If you feel suspicious, call a local police department. Do not hesitate to call a local police department. Police officers are polite and not aggressive when dealing with citizens.

DO NOT be afraid of POLICE!
