FISHING
For the U of A student who enjoys fishing, Tuscaloosa has plenty of opportunity, whether its fishing for that huge catfish or that trophy bass. Tuscaloosa is located on the banks of the Black Warrior River, which provides great fishing. Along with the Black Warrior River, the Tuscaloosa area includes five magnificant lakes:
Lake Lurleen - A 250 acre lake located 12 miles northwest of Tuscaloosa
Lake Tuscaloosa - A 2885 acre lake,on which many fishing tournaments take place.
Holt Lake - A 3200 surface acre lake that stretches for 18 miles.
Oliver Lake - A 1000 surface acre lake that stretches for 9 miles.
